Final cake

I was really busy getting ready for the final cake for my fondant class last week. I didn't realize how much time it took to get ready. Now I know why it costs a lot of money to get a cake made. Anyway, when I was looking online for ideas for the cake, I found two white wedding cakes that I loved so I put those two cakes together and I added colors.
Here's the picture of right before I finished the cake.

These two are my final cake pictures.

In class, they don't teach how to make fondant, so I searched online and found the best marshmallow fondant recipe. It's expensive when you buy it and it doesn't taste that good. I've been using the Wilton brand fondant and I can't even eat it. I could buy a fondant called Satin Ice but they are very expensive, which tastes just like the recipe I found and way cheaper.
I made a total of 65 roses, which took me two days to finish it. I didn't think it was going to take that long... but I'm so happy it turned out pretty well. It was worth it. Someday I want to be able to make what the professionals make, so I am going to keep practicing.

To those of you who asked where I took the cake class:
I took the class at Michael's. They offer Wilton cake classes, and also cupcake and cookie decorating classes too. It is really fun. Now I can make my own cakes.
